Rutledge, PA Job
Job Description:
New homeowners of a Victorian era home in Rutledge, PA were concerned about the deteriorating condition of existing pointing on the exposed stone foundation. Also they did not like the appearance of the cob web ribbon pointing that had been highlighted in white. Inspection of the homes stonework as well as stonework on other similar homes in the area indicated that the cob web ribbon pointing was correct for the house, but that it should be done in a single color, not highlighted. Also during the inspection of the house the deteriorated mortar was noted as a possible source of water leakage in the basement. To correct these issues the existing mortar was completely removed, and where accessible the ground was excavated to a depth of 6'' to allow the pointing to go below grade. The cob web ribbon pointing was then reinstalled using ® Mortar in DGM Grey for the color. The completed pointing work not only restored to exposed stone foundation to an appearance closer to original, but also gave the owners the appearance they desired and corrected the issue of the deteriorating mortar joints. | View Next Job Back to Topics |

20 Years later we received another comment:
As the owner of this property, I can affirm that having Andy do this project was the best investment we made in rejuvenating our house. The craftsmanship and attention to detail continue to be evident to all that view the result.
Steve, Rob and Jeremiah transformed our old painted-stucco-over-fieldstone home into a beautifully pointed dwelling beyond our dreams. These men are very focused and thorough; their work habits are of a high standard. Unanticipated problem areas were dealt with patiently, carefully and expertly.
