TELL US YOUR STORY

Limelight Spark Segments are a contest for the best 3-5 minute video that tells the inspiring story of a person, place, or thing that supports historic preservation or sustainable building. Win $500-$1500 and get your story published so our network of preservationists can become aware of your important message. Use the media release form for the video submission below.

LimeWorks.us is offering a $500 prize for the best short video of the month and a $1,000 grand prize for the best short video overall within the same calendar year. The intent of our contest is to find someone who is talented in videography, and someone who understands the message that LimeWorks.us is encouraging in our Mission Statement, which is found above in the Employment Opportunities section of this page. We are looking for stories about something historically or culturally noteworthy that can captivate and inspire.Ā  To participate, you must be a legal US resident over the age of 18.

Submitted videos should be 3-5 minutes long featuring a person, place, or thing which exemplifies:

  • Keeping up the good fight for historic preservation.
  • Saving regional cultural heritage.
  • Designing, retrofitting, and/or building sustainable structures in America.
  • Creating American Jobs by furthering the re-institution of all traditional building trades.

The short segments that we currently produce in-house are known as ā€œLimelight Spark Segmentsā€œ.

An example of a Spark Segment can be found at Limelight Spark Segment Playlist

Please visit HERE for our plea for experienced tradespeople who want to pass on their knowledge and skills to another generation.

All submitted videos must start with our intro clip and end with our logo (which we will provide upon request) and credits including your name and the name(s) of those who helped you in any way. It is required that youĀ sign a releaseĀ indicating that everyone in the video has given you permission to use their image on the documentary short and that you take full liability and responsibility to have secured such permissions.

LimeWorks.us will have shared user rights of the submitted video to post it indefinitely with no compensation for it other than in the case of the Limelight Contest prize award. LimeWorks.us and the video producers share ownership of the video content, but in essence, LimeWorks.us has permission from the submitter for continued use. LimeWorks.us recognizes that the submitter maintains authorship and may continue to use the video media content for his/her own purpose.

Submissions need to be electronically submitted or postmarked by 11:59 PM on the last day of each month to be considered for the current month’s contest. A video may be submitted only once. In the event of fewer than three entries in any given month, LimeWorks.us reserves the right to not award a prize for that month but instead add the videos to the next month’s entries. The contest ends on December 31, 2023.

Please do not send a propaganda piece, promoting a company or selling a product; it must be a pure ā€œhuman interestā€ story meant to inspire. The winning videos will be chosen based on content, the quality of the video and adherence to the contest description as stated above. LimeWorks.us reserves the right to reject any and all videos for any reason. The winning contestants will be notified via email by the 7th of the following month of their submission and will be notified when the video will be posted on the LimeWorks.us YouTube channel.

The monthly prize check of $500 will be sent out around the 15th of the month after the month that the winning video was selected to have won. The overall best video of the year winner will have a prize check of $1000 sent out around mid January of the year following the contest year. The grand prize is only awarded if there were a total of 12 videos submitted over the course of the year by various parties. Only two videos per year may be submitted by any one videographer in a calendar year.

The winning videos are chosen by a few staff workers at LimeWorks.us who gather to review the submissions and based on the consensus of each individual’s subjective judgment. LimeWorks.us asks the reviewing staff to independently judge the video as being a good quality submission with relevant content in the message to be a winner or not. The winning video is chosen by ballot and the ballot is recorded and kept in-house at our LimeWorks.us corporate headquarters. We do not publicize any of the entries that are not winning submissions or give out any information regarding anything that the videographer does not post within the video that they submit that then becomes a winning selection for a given month or for any given year.

Employees of LimeWorks.us and its affiliates and members of their immediate families and households are not eligible to enter the contest.

We look forward to seeing your entry.
