Wanted: Videographers Loving Cultural Heritage
Join the Limelight Spark Segments contest by creating a 3-5 minute video showcasing an inspiring story related to historic preservation or sustainable building. Share the tale of a person, place, or thing that embodies these values. You could win $500 for the best short video of the month and even compete for the $1,000 grand prize, awarded to the best video of the year. Not only that, but your story will also be published to our network of preservationists, helping spread your essential message.
To participate, submit your video using the media release form below. We are seeking talented videographers who grasp the essence of LimeWorks.us’ Mission Statement, as mentioned in the Employment Opportunities section above. Your story should revolve around something historically or culturally significant, captivating and inspiring our audience.
Eligibility: You must be a legal US resident aged 18 or above to take part in this contest.
Submitted videos should be 3-5 minutes long featuring a person, place, or thing which exemplifies:
- Keeping up the good fight for historic preservation.
- Saving regional cultural heritage.
- Designing, retrofitting, and/or building sustainable structures in America.
- Creating American Jobs by furthering the re-institution of all traditional building trades.
The short segments that we currently produce in-house are known as “Limelight Spark Segments“.
An example of a Spark Segment can be found at Limelight Spark Segment Playlist
Please visit HERE for our plea for experienced tradespeople who want to pass on their knowledge and skills to another generation.
All submitted videos must start with our intro clip and end with our logo (which we will provide upon request) and credits including your name and the name(s) of those who helped you in any way. It is required that you sign a release indicating that everyone in the video has given you permission to use their image on the documentary short and that you take full liability and responsibility to have secured such permissions.
LimeWorks.us will have shared user rights of the submitted video to post it indefinitely, with no compensation other than the Limelight Contest prize award. LimeWorks.us and the video producers will share ownership of the video content, but in essence, LimeWorks.us has permission from the submitter for continued use. The submitter retains authorship and may continue to use the video media content for their own purpose.
To be considered for the current month’s contest, submissions must be electronically submitted or postmarked by 11:59 PM on the last day of each month. Each video may be submitted only once. If there are fewer than three entries in any given month, LimeWorks.us reserves the right to not award a prize for that month but instead add the videos to the next month’s entries. The contest ends on December 31, 2023.
The winning videos will be chosen based on content, video quality, and adherence to the contest description. LimeWorks.us reserves the right to reject any videos for any reason. Winning contestants will be notified via email by the 7th of the following month after their submission and will be informed when the video will be posted on the LimeWorks.us YouTube channel.
The monthly prize check of $500 will be sent around the 15th of the month after the winning video was selected. The overall best video of the year winner will receive a prize check of $1000 sent around mid-January of the following year. The grand prize will only be awarded if there were a total of 12 videos submitted over the course of the year by different parties. Each videographer can submit only two videos per calendar year.
The winning videos are chosen by a few staff workers at LimeWorks.us based on their consensus and subjective judgment. The reviewing staff independently judge the video’s quality and relevance to determine the winner. The selection process is done by ballot, which is recorded and kept in-house at our LimeWorks.us corporate headquarters. Entries that are not winning submissions are not publicized, and no information is given out regarding any videographer’s submission that does not win.
Employees of LimeWorks.us, its affiliates, and members of their immediate families and households are not eligible to enter the contest.
We look forward to seeing your entry!
