Ecologic Mortar, Frequently Asked Questions, Information

Key Resources Explained

We do a lot so you don’t have to!

Education is a central component of LimeWorks.us’ mission. You may have seen the plethora of Resources available on our website, so how can they help you discover more about lime materials and choosing the right material for the job?

Product Documents

A key place to start when learning the ins-and-outs of our lime materials. Many of the questions we receive can be answered right in these pages.

DGM Mortar Color Simulator

A favorite one to explore! Curious about what our different DGM stock colors might look like when installed between brick and stone? This will help you take a look virtually. Discover the impact that different mortars can have, even between subtle color differences. Obviously, as this is on a screen, viewers should remember that many factors impact how mortars appear. For the best visualization upon your own wall, we encourage you to order a sample kit.

Recipes/FAQs

An unexpected gem. Find images of different mortar joints and stone styles and the mortar mix used. Each image also includes information on the finish tools used. The ideal spot to learn some masonry lingo.

This page also includes recipes–for a basic lime whitewash and log chinking–and some of our FAQs and blog posts on the topics.

NHLSelection Tool

Everyone needs a little help now and again. Fill out this questionnaire and our staff will get back with their recommendation on which type of NHL is suitable for your project.

Material Calculator

A frequent question we receive is “how much do I need?” This can help factor in items such as joint depth, deducting openings like windows and doors, and including a 10% adjustment factor. You can calculate mortar needed for brick, stone, whitewash, and plaster/stucco needs.

Training at the Craftwork Training Center

The biggest resource that LimeWorks.us provides: training! With expert guidance, material-science information, and hands-on time with our lime materials, a workshop is one of the best ways to understand and be prepared for success.
