Product Description:
Ecologic™ Potassium Silicate Paint is a highly durable interior & exterior silicate dispersion paint. Potassium Silicate Paint achieves its durability by chemically bonding to the substrate and maintaining a high vapor permeability. The paint bonds by penetrating the porous substrate and curing through the petrification of the quartz binder. Along with its durability and longevity, the paint is non-combustible, fire retardant, washable, mildew resistant, and water repellent.
Properties of Potassium Silicate Paint
Mineral paints and stains chemically bond to all forms of masonry substrates such as brick, stone, mortar, stucco, and cement. Unlike latex paints, they are non-film-forming which creates a permanent bond that works in harmony with the masonry.
Potassium Silicate Paint is a thick-bodied masonry paint that is typically applied in 1-2 coats and dries with an opaque, matte finish obscuring the texture of the substrate.
Where to use it
Ecologic™ Potassium Silicate Dispersion Paint can be used on most rigid and absorbent exterior and interior wall surfaces. Ideal are mineral-based surfaces such as concrete, lime & cement plaster (stucco), brick, stone, or old powdery stucco if it has been solidified by a mineralizing coat of Ecologic™ Waterglass Primer & Consolidant.
Application
Stir well before using. Do not apply @ working temperatures (surface + air) below 41ºF (5ºC) or above 113ºF (45ºC). Apply 2 coats by brush, roller, or airless sprayer after proper surface preparation. Final coat to be applied continuously wet-in-wet especially when using stronger tinted colors. Ideally to be sprayed.
General Preparation
Surfaces must be rigid & absorbent, dry, clean, and free of dust, oily residues and chemically neutral or alkaline. Old coats of latex or alkyd paints must be removed, since they inhibit penetration of the silicate binder into the substrate and vapor-permeability. Flaking or peeling paints must be removed completely.
Carefully protect all adjacent glass, metal, ceramic, etc against splatters. Remove unavoidable splatters immediately with water.

Goes a long way & is easy to apply.
I mixed some of this paint with the water glass to extend the coverage and half the pint did a very nice job covering the walls in the back room of the basement. Pics included are a half-painted wall (white is the cleaned/patched/painted side), and a before/after of the wall before priming with waterglass and a tiny amount of the paint just to tint it barely white. The final coat on the wall turned it totally opaque and it looks WAAAY less filthy than it did before (it covered drips, stains, etc with ease).
Fantastic product! Fast shipping. Very happy.
Representative I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and courteous.
